We all know that the SRT team has really hit the nail on the head with the latest Viper, but check out the new Viper GT3-R – a purpose-built track-only Viper developed in collaboration with Riley Technologies.
The new V-10 powered SRT Viper GT3-R is the newest offspring of the Viper GTS-R.
According to Ralph Gilles, President and CEO - SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC, the Viper GT3-R is the product of almost twenty years of racing development resulting in the creation of a robust sports car capable of dominating tracks the whole world over.
"The SRT Viper GT3-R is the next logical progression of our successful Viper GTS-R, a championship-proven formula that has captured some of the world's most prestigious races," Gilles said. "Like every Viper race car, the GT3-R is a direct descendant of the SRT Viper street car. There is no mistaking the similarities between the two, which is a key component of this class of sports car racing. The GT3-R stays true to the visceral appeal of the Viper and has been carefully evolved for the demands of racing at a world class level."
The new SRT Viper GT3-R was created in conjunction with Riley Technologies of Mooresville, North Carolina. Riley Technologies is a highly-accredited designer, manufacturer and supporter of winning race cars from Daytona prototype endurance cars to GT competition cars. Included in its impressive resume are multiple U.S. endurance championships race wins, multiple GT Class championships, and nine consecutive victorious years at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
The SRT Viper GT3-R stems directly from the GTS-R campaigned by SRT Motorsports in the LM GTE Pro Class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The suspension, engine, chassis, electronic, and aerodynamic technology developed by the Chrysler Group for the factory GTS-R was incorporated into the creation of every Viper GT3-R.
Standard features include a chassis designed with a highly-efficient aerodynamic package to optimize handling, Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, six-piston front brake calipers with four-piston rears, lightweight wheels and a multi-disc race clutch to enable maximum performance from the V-10 engine.
The all-new SRT Viper GT3-R can be ordered now for late 2013 delivery for a cool $459,000 (approximately).
