Well, just after getting rid of my '09 Challenger I had to get another Hemi powered late model Mopar. As luck would have it, I ran across a deal on this recently retired '06 Dodge Charger police car.
There is good news for performance loving Mopar enthusiasts, as the Dodge Charger police fleet is starting to be retired. These cars have generally been well maintained, although they occasionally have seen some high-speed pursuit duty, and are starting to show up at auctions. I found this one in North Carolina, where I bought it from an individual who had obtained it at an auction in upstate New York. This car was the police chief's vehicle, and is a true Hemi powered police car with rubber floor mats, front buckets, and a column shifter.
This car will be great for family transportation, but more importantly we'll be upgrading it in the pages of Mopar Muscle. As Associate Editor Scott Ross put it, these cop cars are the new Road Runners, offering great performance and bare bones options, and if you can find the right deal they are less expensive than comparable R/T models. In fact, this one cost less than $5,000 and runs and drives great with just over 100,000 miles.
We're looking forward to using this as a project vehicle, and will upgrade the Charger with performance goodies from our advertisers. Since Ross has a black police edition Charger, I guess this white one makes me the good cop. Sorry Scott.
