I'd like to congratulate all of those who race Mopars every weekend, from the bracket racers to the dirt track circle racers, but especially those at the top classes of both circle track and drag racing. As of yesterday, Mopars captured series wins in NHRA Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and NASCAR Sprint Cup.
When Brad Keselowski sealed the deal in Homestead yesterday, taking his team Penske #2 Miller Lite Dodge to the Sprint Cup championship, it capped a great season for Mopar, as Dodge had already scored wins in the top three NHRA drag racing classes. Allen Johnson took his Hemi powered Avenger to a championship season in Pro Stock, Jack Beckman scored a win as his Hemi powered Dodge Charger won the funny car class (barely beating teamate Ron Capps, also in a Charger), and Antron Brown took top honors for the season in his Hemi powered Top Fuel dragster. These wins came with a number of first ever events, like the first Sprint Cup series win for team Penske, and Antron Brown becoming the first African American to win a championship in Top Fuel.
Congratulations again to all the winners during this "Year of the Hemi", we hope these results will convince the Chrysler Corporation that racing sponsorship pays off!
See you at the track.
Dave
