Long time nostalgia funny car racer Greg Jacobsmeyer brought a new NFC Challenger out, and won for the first time during Saturday’s program since a victory at the very first Feld-promoted Nitro Jam back in 2010, clocking a 6.05 when opponent Peter Gallen went up in smoke.
"That was our best run to date. It was our best speed, our best pass and it was simply awesome," Jacobsmeyer said in an IHRA press release. "This is an entirely new car. The only stuff that we used from the last car is the clutch, the transmission and the parachute. Everything is new and that makes this win even more special to debut this new car and take it to victory lane."
Gallen did return to win on Sunday afternoon, beating Mike Minnick, grandson of driver Pat Minnick, in the ChiTown Hustler. Minnick went 5.98 in the 1974 Charger in the money round.
