A video was recently posted by SRT President and CEO Ralph Gilles’ YouTube account showing an in-cab video of a lap at Grattan Raceway in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Gilles navigated his own daily-driven 2013 SRT Viper on the 2-mile track and posted a lap time of 1:22. He even hit a top speed of 147mph on Grattan’s straightaway!
“I am still amazed what a daily driven Viper can do on a race track,” Gilles wrote on his Twitter feed.
Gilles became President and CEO of Dodge in 2009, before moving over to SRT Brand and Motorsports as its President and CEO two years later, but has worked for Chrysler in various positions for 21 years. He also holds the title of Senior Vice President of Product Design, with a background in design. However, he is also an avid car enthusiast having participated in the Targa Newfoundland Rally, One Lap of America, and (of course) the SRT Viper Cup Series.
The rear-wheel drive 2013 Viper produces 640 horses and 600 lb-ft of torque out of an 8.4-liter V-10 engine.
