drive shaft

When it's time to get a drive shaft built, where do you go?

We always love it when it's time to install the drive shaft in one of our Mopars, because that means we're close to driving the car. But what if you don't have a drive shaft for your Mopar, or need a tougher drive shaft than the one your car came with? Our '64 Dodge will have a bunch of power and torque, and a 727 transmission, so we need a drive shaft that will withstand the abuse we'll give it. Mopars came with two U-joint sizes from the factory, and for our application we'll need the larger of the two because it's also stronger.

Since a drive shaft is difficult and expensive to ship, we use a local shop here in Florida called Central Florida Drive Shaft. Located nearby in Lakeland, the crew at Central Florida Drive Shaft can usually build a custom drive shaft the same day you give them your specs, so there isn't much waiting to get your car on the road. Today we'll measure for our drive shaft and give them the specs, so hopefully we'll have our shaft this afternoon. We can't wait to drive our Dodge, and this will get us one step closer to that goal.
