You're getting your first look at the 2013 Dodge Dart, the new front-drive compact Dodge that'll get its public introduction next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The new Dart shares its platform with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, and it features "Compact U.S. Wide (CUSW)" architecture, which combines a rigid structure, responsive steering, four-wheel independent suspension, powertrains including by three state-of-the-art four-cylinder engines: the all-new "Tigershark" 16-valve (in 2.0 and 2.4 liter versions) and a 16-valve 1.4-liter MultiAir Intercooled Turbo.
Outside, it wears contemporary Dodge styling cues with dynamic lines and curves,to deliver what Ma Mopar calls "class-leading aerodynamic performance.
Replacing the Caliber in the Dodge line-up, the new Dart will be built at Caliber's former home--Belvidere (IL) Assembly, which has undergone a $600 million renovation (including a new 638,000 square foot body shop) in order to build this new-gen FWD small sedan.
