Building a race car is in some ways easier than building a street car, but the 2010 Dodge Challenger we started with for this project had been rolled over and wrecked pretty good, needing a bunch of body work before we could even get started. The car is nearly complete now, but we're still running into a couple of issues stemming from the accident, like a bent steering shaft that interfered with the transmission housing of our 904 TorqueFlite.
The car is getting close, however, and most of the issues we've had are resolved. Our 426 cubic inch Indy-headed late-model Hemi is in the engine bay, and we should have it fired up this weekend after we finish bolting up our TTI race headers. Once we get the car complete, it will be taken up to Inline Performace to be weighed and we'll set the corner weights. We're hoping to be at the track for testing sometime during the next two weeks, and we'll keep you advised about how the car performs. Meanwhile, look for articles covering the engine build (and some impressive dyno numbers) in the March and April issues of Mopar Muscle.
