Our Thoughts on the Hotchkis Suspension After Few Months of Seat Time.
Back in the September 2011 issue of Mopar Muscle, we had the opportunity to install one of Hotchkis' Sport Suspensions in our project Dart Sport. We didn't really have time to give you any real driving impressions in the article because we simply ran out of time before the issue had to go to print. So we thought we would let you guys know our thoughts now.
Like we said in the article, the install was easy, and once we were done, it was time for some driving tests. We put our Dart Sport through some hard corners, got on the brink of drifting, and then just did some normal driving to see how it handled every day pot holes and such. As expected, the hard corner characteristic was drastically improved. After the install, the car no longer leaned hard enough in a corner to actually keep you from sliding across the seat from the centrifigal force. If you did, it was literally an uphil slide. It remained completely steady, and sliding the nose through a corner was no longer an issue.
As far as highway driving, the suspension is a little firmer, but not to teh point of knocking the fillings out of your teeth. As expected, road feel is much better, and we really feel like we have better control of the car than before. So, it's been almost three months since we completed the install, and so far, we're more than happy. Keep checking back as we continue to update our thoughts about the new-found ride quality.
