Day two went a lot smoother, and the weather was a lot cooler, on our road trip to the Mopar Nationals.
Day two of our road trip to the Nats started earlier than day one, with cooler temperatures and thankfully no liquid sunshine to leak through our questionable convertible top.
So far the Newport has done well, and since we replaced the fuel filter and eliminated our leaky oil pressure guage we got to enjoy our cruise through the mountains and hills of Tennessee and Kentucky. Nothing rides like a C-body, and the scenery in this part of the country is beautiful compared to the flat farm and swamp land of Florida.
We made great time on day two, traveling through Lexington then crossing the Ohio River into Cincinati for the last leg of our journey. From Cincinati to Columbus, I-71 is pretty much a straight shot through the farmlands of south and central Ohio, and we made good time despite having to keep our speed in check due to the police presence.
We started seeing other Mopars on this leg of the trip, and hope to see you all at the show. Our Newport pulled in at about 2:30 on Thursday to set up our booth and trailer, so come by and see us in the vendor section near the starting line. The engine builders in this year's Challenge will be on hand to answer questions, and you can check out the '69 Newport convertible we drove 1,100 miles to get here. Randy's Super Bee will also be on display, so come on by and say hello.
