This past weekend, for the first time, the NMRA and NMCA took over Fontana, CA'sAuto Club Dragway with the West Coast Shootout, their largest muscle car event of the year.

Come on in and read more about it!

The first-ever JE Pistons NMRA/NMCA West Coast Shootout, Presented by Lucas Oil brought many of the stars from the west coast drag racing scene, and showcased what the NMRA Keystone Automotive Nationals and the NMCA Flowmaster Muscle Car Nationals has to offer.

This event featured a special Racers Against Street Racing True Street Challenge class, where street-type racers  competed with media and manufacturers for over $10,000 is cash and prizes.

The West Coast Shootout brought exciting drag race action for the southern California-area fans.  Mickey Thompson sponsored the awesome Xtreme Drag Radial and Wild Street classes which showed cool wheels up action, and  Centerforce sponsored the naturally aspirated class.

TREMEC True Street was extra special this event, with a special Racers Against Street Racing promotion designed to take racing off the streets and put it on the track...where it belongs!

Over 20 magazines and website administrators (including our brother-in-law books HOT ROD and Car Craft) raced with street-type racers for a good time and a good cause.

The quickest 16 cars from Saturday's True Street class were invited to race heads-up on Sunday,in the Nitto Tire Lone Star Shootout class!

But it wasn't all go and  no show. California is truly a motorsports state, and nowhere was it more evident than in the combined TREMEC NMCA Car Show, and the UPR Products NMRA Car Show.
Over 100 of the best hot rods and muscle cars in the U.S. drove in the heat to show off for the fans.  The car show area was a sea of chrome and vibrant colors with something for everyone.

The award ceremony was first class, as the show participants enjoyed the shade of the NMRA/NMCA Awards Pavilion.

NMRA and NMCA events have a reputation for strong manufacturers' midways where fans and racers can check out and purchase performance parts, accessories, collectibles, apparel and much more.
Combine NMRA and NMCA in California, and you get over 40 vendors on hand including Flowmaster, JE Pistons, Lucas Oil, B&M, Edelbrock, Baer Brake Systems, Centerforce, Mickey Thompson, Vortech/Paxton, MSD Ignition, Maximum Motorsports, Ross Racing Pistons, Energy Suspension, Eibach Springs, EATON, Magnaflow Exhaust, SAM, Exedy Racing Clutch, Holley, ACT and many others with awesome displays and product showcases.

For the first time ever the NMRA & NMCA hosted an Autocross and Speed-Stop-Challenge.  The Hotchkis Sport Suspension Autocross showcased over 100 of the coolest muscle cars and hot rods racing through the cone course with most competitors getting over 15-20 total laps!  The Baer Brake Systems Speed-Stop-Challenge showcased the stopping ability of everything from a shoebox to a to a new LeMans-winner lookalike!

A moment of silence was held each day in honor of Todd Gartshore, co-owner of Baer and a good friend, who passed away almost 2 weeks ago.
