When I took driver's ed, they taught you that the left lane was for faster drivers, is that still true?

What has happened to drivers over the past ten years? It seems everyone has forgotten what the left lane is for, going fast. On my last road trip, I noticed people doing everything but going fast in the left lane, in fact it's like drivers purposely get in the left lane to text or talk on their cell phones, regardless of how many times the guy behind them in the dually honks at them or rides their bumper.

Maybe it's caused by too many cars and not enough lanes, but I don't think that's all of it. I think most people are oblivious to how their stupid driving habits affect others, or maybe they just don't care. My advice, get off the phone and drive. And if you're going to go the speed limit or below, either stay off the interstate or move the hell over because I have somewhere I need to be . . . loser.
