If you've checked out Mecum Auction's website (www.mecum.com)  and seen what's going up for bids this weekend at Monterey, you've seen plenty of great A-Body, B-Body and E-Body cars that'll cross the block.

But how about some from the Forward Look era? These four--including a factory "dream car"--will also go up for bids, too.

If one example of what legendary motoring scribe Tom McCahill called the "Executive Hot Rod" isn't enough, how about two of 'em?

Lot S47: '57 Chrysler 300C convertible

We're talking about the 392 FirePower Hemi-powered '57 Chrysler 300C...and there are two that will go up for bids. There's this red convertible (Lot # S47) that wears its colors (and Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels) well,,,

Lot S114: '57 Chrysler 300C hardtop (1 of 4 painted Champagne Gold, and 1 of 2 survivors)

.....and this Champagne Gold  hardtop (Lot # S114) that's one of only four ever built (and is one of only two known survivors).

Lot S109: '58 DeSoto Adventurer convertible w/Bendix ElectroJection

While we're talking fin cars, check out Lot # S109. That's not only a '58 DeSoto Adventurer convertible, it's THE ONLY SURVIVING '58 DeSoto Adventurer convertible with the factory-installed Bendix "ElectroJection" electronic fuel injection system in it (and working. That early EFI proved so troublesome that Ma Mopar recalled 'em all and replaced them with carburetors on a conventional intake. Check out the description on Mecum's website to find out why this one was spared the swap.

Lot S85: '56 Plymouth Plainsman by Ghia

And...how about a "dream car? The Ghia-built Plymouth Plainsman wagon, which wowed auto show-goers in the spring of '56. Unlike too many concept cars, this one survived and is going up for bids this evening.

Even if you don't bid on it, take a look at the pics of it on the Mecum Auction website (www.mecum.com) and see how many of its styling cues wound up on later production Mopars.
