Now a look at the Dodges going up for bid (at no reserve) at Mecum's "'57 Heaven" museum close-out auction on October 24th, at the Dick Clark Theatre in Branson, Missouri.
They were called the "Swept-Wing" Dodges, with "Autodynamic" styling. (Hey, I didn't make these up!)
How 'bout another look at that droptop, a Custom Royal Lancer with the "Super D-500 Package" and a first-year 727 TorqueFlite:
Dodge was big into family mobility before minivans. Here's their '57 Sierra wagon--this one also up for bids on October 24th.
There's even a "Power Giant" '57 Dodge pickup crossing the block at the "'57 Heaven" auction: an ultra-rare Sweptline.
And there's also this '57 Dodge Sweptline scale model going up for bids.
Finally, there's this: a '57 Dual-Ghia, featuring a body hand-built by Ghia in Italy, then shipped back to Detroit where Dual Motors mated it with a rolling Dodge chassis. (This was when Dodges had full frames under 'em.) Dual-Ghias cost a bundle, and folks like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were among their customers.
