Mecum Auctions will be auctioning off the contents of the '57 Heaven" museum in Branson, Missouri on Saturday, October 24th.
We'll look at the Plymouths that'll go up for bid...at no reserve!
How'd you like that Fury that was our lead photo? Pretty sharp, eh? That was the second-year version of the mid-year "image car" that graced Dodge-Plymouth, DeSoto-Plymouth and Chrysler-Plymouth showrooms back in the day. (Remember, Plymouth never had its own dealer network...ever!)
At the start of 'the '57 model run, Belvedere was the top of the Plymouth line, above the Savoy and Plaza series. Here's a '57 Belvie convertible that's part of the "'57 Heaven" auction:
Now here's a '57 Belvedere two-door hardtop. Can you imagine the COW that the spying GM stylists had when they saw cars like this in the holding lot next to Lynch Road Assembly in the summer of '56, just after the start of production?
Also up for auction: this '57 Belvedere 4-door sedan, done up in cop livery. (Most Plymouth cop cars back then were based on the lower-priced Savoy and Plaza series, by the way):
Mecum's also has a bunch of automobilia up for bids, including this laminated 2-page Plymouth magazine ad. Now you know where the phrase "Suddenly It's 1960!" came from!
