Ridiculous spoilers

car spoilers, wings, aerodynamics

Is this really necessary?

As a student of aviation, and thereby a student of aerodynamics and physics, I know that as lift increases, drag increases exponentially. What this means in simple terms is that, when an airfoil (like a wing or car spoiler), produces more lift, it produces A LOT more drag.

So what's up with the ridiculous wings on cars these days? The wing on this Ford pos probably creates so much drag that the car just stops accelerating at 60mph.

"Why can't we go faster?"

"I don't know, maybe we don't have enough downforce"
