There are plenty of ways your car can be damaged while driving on the streets, but at least this one is preventable.
We're all a little scared to drive our muscle cars on the streets because of the chance our cars will be damaged. While there's not much we can do if an inattentive driver decides to run a stop sign, careening into our restored muscle car, and spinning us into a school playground where we pummel the other driver in a fit of rage. . . there is something we can do about rocks being thrown from the tires of dump trucks.
Sure these trucks have signs saying "not responsible for damage" and "stay back 200 feet", but they're also required by the DOT to have functional equipment. So the next time you see a truck like this one, get the DOT number from the side and give them a call. Alternatively, carry a bag of ball bearings with you and throw them at the truck when you pass it . . . (just kidding) Eventually, maybe these *** will put functional mud flaps on their trucks so our paint and windshields won't be chipped.
