Another night at the track

Testing the B3

Well, we went to the track to test the B3 project's new engine and suspension, but it didn't go quite as planned.

Do you ever have one of those days? We did when we went to the Lakeland drag strip to test the B3. Everything seemed to be fine in the garage, and the pits. The motor was tuned and sounded good, everything was working properly. So we made an initial half-throttle pass just to help seat the rings and make sure the transmission, brakes, and suspension were working properly, then attempted a full pass.

After the burnout, however, the car died and the fuel pump wouldn't work. Luckily, it restarted and we limped back to the pits. Since our friend Chris Darden had an extra blue pump in his truck, we ended up changing fuel pumps instead of making passes.

We still managed a best of 6.22 at 114 in the eighth after changing the pump, but never got to address our traction problems. Next time out we'll put some timing in the motor and really shake it down. We're hoping for 6 seconds flat in the eighth.
