Gotta like the cars and trucks that you folks send in for "Penta Stars" in Mopar Muscle Magazine.
Here's a couple that merit another look:
Who: Robert Cox Where: Grand Blanc, Michigan What: ’63 Dodge 440 two-door sedan
We don’t know who came up with Dodge’s series names, but “440” fits the mid-level, B-Body Dodges as nicely as the big RB engine fits inside them. That goes double for rides like Robert’s ’63. It's a rust-free, 33,000-original-miles car whose sheet metal and interior are all original.
The 440-inch Wedge sports a Holley 830 carburetor on an Edelbrock intake and Hedman Hedders. The 727 is controlled by the original dash-mounted pushbuttons, and the rear end is a 3.55-geared 8 ¾-inch one.
Robert’s owned his ’63 for over 15 years, and he says his like of the “old fashioned original look” is why it wears steel wheels and hubcaps inside the fenderwells. He adds that it drives great, and is fairly quick for what Dodge billed as its “full-size” cars back then--a car that's Roger says is not really exotic, with its the engine combination.
Hey, it’s exotic enough for us!
Comfort-Able Charger

Who: Ted Comfort Where: Gray, Tennessee What: ’70 Dodge Charger 500
Back in 1991, Ted purchased this Charger for $375 while attending college, with plans to drive as a beater. Nearly two decades later, after saving it from a fate worse than death, Ted’s 500 is this restored beauty.
It’s powered by a 383 outfitted with a Holley carburetor atop an Edelbrock RPM intake, an Xtreme Energy cam, Hooker headers, MSD Ignition and three-inch Flowmaster exhausts. Backing the 383 is a Hurst-shifted four-speed and a 3.91-geared Dana 60. (If that 383 isn’t enough, Ted’s building a 440 to replace it with!).
He’s also fitted big BFGoodrich Radial T/As to a set of year-correct Rallye wheels, that fit the fenderwells just right.
While he was building his Charger into the gem that you see here, he says that the tech articles and features that he read in Mopar Muscle were very valuable to him during his project.
