Now it's JANUARY (Maybe sooner.....)

Dodge Charger Police,SCOTT ROSS, William Proxmire, Governmental Economic Idiocy

Previously, I'd been told that I'd be able to score a used, out-of-service '06 Dodge Charger cop car in June.  Then that got pushed back to October.

Now, thanks to the illustrious leadership that those in "Government" have imposed on us over the past couple of decades, economic times are such now that the cop shops that were going to be de-commissioning their '06 Chargers this month are now holding on to them, at least until January. (Maybe sooner).

Where is William Proxmire when you need him?

Proxmire, as those of you that studied 20th Century American History may know, was a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin who presented a monthly "Golden Fleece" Award to  horrific examples of wasteful government spending. A banker by trade, he knew a thing or two about money. (BTW--He was elected to succeed Joseph McCarthy when that Red-hunter died in 1957)

I had the chance to chat with him during my first local radio news job after college, regarding the so-called "bailout" of Chrysler that went through the year before. He voted against it, and at that time he still opposed it, as it was his belief that giving any sort of Federal assistance to any private corporation was just plain wrong. That was despite the "bailout" of Ma Mopar being a package of Federally-backed loans that enabled it to tool up the then-new, front-drive K-Cars--and eventually the minivans that sprang from that platform and sold so well that ChryCo was able to pay off the Federally-backed loans many years ahead of schedule.

I'd wonder how many "Golden Fleeces" Senator Proxmire would have presented to "Fannie Mae" and "Freddie Mac," and the overeducated twits who ran those agencies, over the years?

And now, thanks to a crowd of "experts" (who would be hard-pressed to qualify for the term "Village Idiot"), things are messed up so bad that......(fill in your own tale of trouble here)....and (fill in another one you've heard from your inlaws)....and not only that, an automotive journalist and life-long Mopar devotee (me) has to wait at least another 90 days before he can buy a two-year old Charger with over 100,000 miles on it. This while the stocks of same age/mileage Crown Vics continues to grow.

WHENEVER I get it, you folks'll be the first to know.
