The contestants in our annual engine challenge were required to bring their engines to the Mopar Nationals, and we received seven of the eight engines.
This year's engine challenge features a 440 wedge spec engine, and all but one of the engines showed up at the Mopar Nationals.
These big blocks were all required to utilize the same cylinder heads, which should make for a good competition. While most builders were tight lipped about their numbers, rumors of 700 horsepower pump gas 440s were circulating among the crowd.
In September, we'll dyno the engines at Comp Cams, and the truth will be known. We'd like to thank all of our competitors this year for bringing some stout big-blocks to our Challenge. This year's competitors will be Cedarstrand Racing Engines, Chenoweth Speed and Machine, JD Engine and Machine, Indy Cylinder Head, JMS Racing, Promax, and Schurbon Engine and Machine. Be sure to stay tuned for more information about these engine builders and their powerful engines.
