We're pretty lucky to live in this country.

In my previous job, I used to fly airplanes all over the world. I flew to modern eastern and western countries, and to third world, and uncivilized countries as well. While the diversity of the human civilization is interesting, and I loved experiencing the places I traveled to and people I met, overall my trips would always make me realize how lucky I am to be an American citizen.

As Americans we have more opportunity and freedom than citizens of any other country. Any American has the opportunity to start a business and make it succesful through hard work. There are plenty of jobs in America for people who want to work, and for those who can't or chose not to, we take care of you too.

One of the best parts of being an American is the ability to choose our own destiny. We can work in any field we're qualified for, and if we're not qualified we are able to easily obtain training and education so that we can contribute to our society in a way we enjoy. As Americans we can also enjoy nearly any hobby imaginable, like collecting or restoring cars, or drag racing, my favorites.

On this day, especially, let's remember the veterans who have fought to earn us these advantages and those who continue to fight for our freedoms today. Remember that our troops don't choose their wars, but they fight them patriotically, not as Democrats or Republicans, but representing all of us as Americans.
