Do people where you work try to get you to donate things to charities?

As if I don't get enough phone calls from the "Police Athletic Leage", or the "Florida Trooper Association" asking me to donate my hard earned money to their cause, I have to hear it at work too.

There's a guy who works here that sends emails asking for donations to help the homeless, and he walks around the office asking too, but usually only stops at the girls desks, not the guys. This leads me to believe that his cause is not genuine and that maybe he's using the "donation" gimmick to have an excuse to talk to the girls around here.

And why should we help the homeless, anyway? If we give them things like food and toothpaste and clothes they'll never learn that hard work pays off. I mean how do you expect them to hit rock bottom and help themselves if you keep giving them handouts. Maybe by not helping the homeless we'd really be helping them more than if we helped them by giving them things they should get a job and work for like I do.
