I took typing class in high school to meet girls, I'm glad I did.
When I was in high school, I used to take car magazines to my study hall session and think about what it would be like to write for a magazine. I never thought I actually would write for a magazine, I just enjoyed reading them so I thought about it.
During my senior year in high school, I took typing class. I thought to myself "It should be an easy A, and it'll be mostly girls." Since I liked girls and needed an easy A to bring my grade point average up, it seemed like a good idea.
Then after high school I went to college. Knowing how to type meant writing papers took less time, so I had more time to chase girls and drink beer. After college, I went to work for an airline. Knowing how to type didn't help much then, but I think I typed a few letters. Then I got a job flying airplanes. Knowing how to type meant I could work the autopilot really fast, so I had more time to flirt with flight attendants.
Now I write for a magazine and knowing how to type really comes in handy. Instead of pecking at the keys I can write my articles really fast, so I have more time to pursue my hobby of drag racing (I quit chasing girls after I married my wonderful and beautiful wife).
You should encourage your kids to take typing class. It may come in handy some day.
