People who put their hazzard lights on when they're driving in the rain aren't just doing something stupid, they're doing something illegal.
I was driving my truck down I-95 yesterday and it started raining. It wasn't really bad rain, but it limited visibility a little bit. I, like most normal drivers, simply clicked on my headlights to make myself more visible, turned on the wipers for obvious reasons, and continued to signal my lane changes normally as I weaved through the slowing traffic.
Why is it that people think they need to slam on the brakes in the rain? If everyone keeps going at a safe pace, it's much easier. Also, people who put their hazzard lights on in the rain are just idiots. Hazzard lights tell normal drivers that you are stopped in the road for some reason. And if your hazzard lights are on, we have no idea if you're braking, stopped, or changing lanes. So all you do is cause confusion and panic when you put your hazzard lights on in the rain. If you consider yourself a hazzard in the rain and feel you need to warn other drivers, maybe you shouldn't be driving in the rain. Simply pull over out of the way and get off the road. Or, maybe you should consider giving up driving all together, because people like you cause accidents.
I have a friend who is a professional driver, he says it's illegal to put your hazzards on in the rain. I don't know if he's right, but it should be illegal.
