It’s Got A Cop Engine, Cop Tires…..Dodge, Dodge Charger, 2006 Dodge Charger Police

The chance has come for this longtime Mopar devotee—to put a high-performance Mopar in his (my) garage.
I’ve kept an eye on websites of dealers specializing in and selling (relatively) low-mileage cop cars. A lot of PD’s, sheriff’s offices and state police/highway patrols only keep their patrol cars for about two years anymore, as their fleet-managers’ data shows that maintenance costs start going up if they keep ‘em any longer. Those dealers, in turn, score the lowest-mileage cars that come out of service, and offer them for sale not only to cop shops looking for low-cost replacement rolling stock, but also for civilians.
At this writing, the dealer that I found that was getting a Charger has yet to receive it. That’s because its replacement hasn’t been shipped to the new-car dealer that the cop shop contracted with. Until it does, the Charger stays on duty, and I stay waiting.
If all goes well, the Charger will get up to that dealer while I’m in that neck of the woods, in the next couple of weeks.
