The excitement around the all-new Dodge Challenger SRT8 is paying big dividends for those in need. On Friday night, the eBay auction of the 43rd Dodge Challenger SRT8 to be built -- the only blue one -- drew a winning bid of $228,143.43. The name of the winning bidder will be released at a later date. Proceeds for this auction will benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp for seriously ill children.
Earlier, the first new Dodge Challenger to be built drew a winning bid of $400,000 to benefit the notMYkid organization, which focuses on adolescent behavioral health issues. Also, a dealer-only auction for Challenger No. 2 raised more than $175,000 for the United Way. The proceeds for the three auctions topped $800,000.
The Dodge Challenger SRT8 made its world debut Feb. 6 at the Chicago Auto Show and was selected as the favorite vehicle in the show in a poll of attendees. Only 6,400 Challenger SRT8 vehicles will be produced for sale in the United States in 2008. More than 4,300 orders were placed the first day the vehicle went on sale.
