The new Challenger will never be everything to everyone. With modern safety and emission regulations and the economy, its amazing they were able to pull off the program at all. If the new Challenger were made as spartan as some of the early muscle cars were it would attract a very narrow customer base. I doubt this was lost on Chryslers marketing dept. Its amazing that as we get older how quickly we forget what it was like to drive a 3500 lbs car with manual drum brakes, manual steering and bias ply tires. The new Challenger stops, corners, accelerates has airbags, stereo and does it all much better than the muscle cars of the late 70's and all that with A/C power windows and a warranty. I am impressed with the new Challenger, Bravo to Chrysler.

Aha! Here's p.fogel again, bad-mouthing Chrysler. If you kept your '68 Hemi Roadrunner in showroom condition, it wouold be worth $40,000 or more now. What's the difference, oh wait maybe that's inflation. Has you salary stayed the same, has gas stayed the same, how about food? Everything has gone up bucko, live with it. If you want a car that goes fast and looks good you have to pay for it. True the dollar doesn't go quite as far as it used to, but what can we do about it?

This beautiful car will also go the way of the Viper because Chrysler has forgotten what the baby boomer enthusiasts really want: a basic rear wheel drive performance car like the Roadrunner with pricing proportionate to back in the day. It isn't even a ?real" hemi! I know a lot of you will not agree but I can't stand those big "Puerto Rican Wheels" and rubber band tires on anything that pretends to be a muscle car, old or retro. Makes me want to puke! This is one more Chrysler can stick where the sun don't shine because they over-junked it and over-priced it. Think Roadrunner Chrysler! Keep it VERY SIMPLE and affordable. What world are YOU living in? The hemi Roadrunner I bought new from Carpeter Motors in Maysville, Ky. in '68 cost me under $4,000!!!Chrysler...you can bite me!

Man how times have changed...Just think 36 years ago a Hemi car could be had new for 4 to 5 grand. Now it will cost you 30 to 45 thousand!

Out the door pricing depends on your dealer and his mark up. Start at 37,900 and go up is a good rule of thumb.
